A MIRACLE SUNDAY

Hello all,

I just wanted to take a few moments to invite you to join us for Miracle offering Sunday, at either our 10:00 am or 6:00 pm services

We live in exciting times, the opportunities we have to be a part of bringing the
Kingdom to our community is truly amazing. When we combine our efforts we can achieve so much more.

Our miracle offering is an opportunity to be a part of something that will make an eternal difference to precious lives right here in Hobart, across this fantastic state and nation and across the globe.

This Sunday we can choose to be part of a miracle, today we can choose to reach out beyond our own families, spheres of influence and our church.

It’s not about equal giving, but about together all of us choosing to make a sacrifice and by faith do what we can to make an amazing difference.

We ask you to prayerfully and faithfully consider your part in this Miracle. When we place what we have in the hands of Jesus it is truly amazing what happens.

Please do all you can to be part of this special day in the life of Energizer Life Church.

See you in Church

Ps Dave & Alix

Girl’s Day 2010

My life today has been shaped, maybe more than I realise by the experiences and decisions that I made as a very young girl. I have become increasingly aware of the incredible pressures that our girls face in modern times.

“... modern social pressures (are) forcing girls to grow up faster than those of previous generations. Not only that, but a girl of seven today (will) also struggle
with different issues that a girl aged twelve did just five years ago.” (’What’s Happening to our Girls?’ Maggie Hamilton)

Like you, I long to see our young girls flourish into brilliant young women. I would love to come alongside parents and carers who are doing an incredible work raising their beautiful girls to offer support and encouragement in whatever way that I can.

To this end, my team and I are very excited to again present; ‘Girl’s Day’- a day especially designed just for girls aged 7 to 11. At Girl’s Day we aim to provide a funky, fun programme laced with fun girly stuff we know they will love so each girl knows how valuable and special they are. At Girl’s Day we cover topics such as value and identity, connection and communication, caring and nurturing and health and nutrition.

We limit the number of girls that attend each time to an intimate 25, with the aim of making Girl’s Day an on-going part of our ministry to young girls. We would love to see the young girls in your world at Girl’s Day this year.

For any further information or to register for Girl’s Day, please contact Energizer Life Church.

Hello Church family,

We trust that you’re having a fantastic week!

In the15th Century John Donne wrote; “No man is an island; entire of itself ... any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.” He noted how inter-connected we all are.

At Energizer Life Church we desire to see people truly CONNECT to God and people through Jesus Christ. It’s been a privilege over past weeks to teach and encourage our wonderful Church family in the area of connection. Through God we will continue to see an authentic connection to Him, our families, our Church and community through the unlimited love of Jesus Christ.

It’s fantastic to have Bob and Naomi Engwicht in our Church family. Bob and Naomi lead the amazing work of Live Free Tassie - Teen Challenge at Ellendale. Live Free Tassie helps young people to live free from life controlling problems, by empowering young people to make positive lifestyle choices. (See http://www.livefreetassie.org.au)

At the moment, we have some great opportunities to partner with the Live Free team in this fruitful and life-changing work.

We have the opportunity to help with:

Demolition Work - stripping out buildings ready for renovations.
Painting - and preparation for painting.
Building work - including carpentry, plumbing, electrical & plastering.
Office work - including bookkeeping.
Fencing -
Tree Cutting - blown down trees needing cutting, stacking & burning.
Cooking - biscuits, slices & cakes (freezable).
Resident Helper - from August 10th for 3 weeks - to cook & give general support to the MMM team who will be doing maintenance on the Live Free site.

If you can help in any way, please call Bob on 0411 073 095 or 6288 1188.

Together we can make a huge difference and be an encouragement to the Live free team.

Can’t wait to see you in Church this weekend as we continue to look at a vital aspect of connection; “Hope”. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. (Hebrews 6:19)

See you in Church on Sunday,

Connect 2009

At Energizer Life Church this year we desire to see people truly CONNECT to God and people through Jesus Christ.

Right now, our theme is all about CONNECTION - life is about relationships and relationships are about connection. When you remember your most cherished moments they will always involve the people who were in your world at that time and a part of creating that special moment.

Through relationship with others we experience a full range of things; joy and sorrow, hope and disappointment, acceptance and rejection, love and dislike. In the 15th Century John Donne wrote; “No man is an island; entire of itself ... any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.” He noted how inter-connected we all are. No one is a true island - we are all created to add something to the world in which we live.

As I’ve observed those who truly love life, I’ve noticed that they don’t live in their own private world but are at peace within a larger world. They face and deal with what is happening around them rather than trying to control and minimize what might happen. Our response will determine our capacity to love life far more than ‘what happens to us’ ever will.

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us” (Genesis 1:26). We have been created by a relational God. From the very beginning, God used the word ‘us’ when he talked about humankind. The whole reason for His creation was because he understood and valued relationship. We are created to enjoy relationship with God which is possible as a result of the amazing sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We are created to have relationship with ourselves - that is to be at peace with who we are, to have relationship with others - those we share this fantastic journey with, and to have relationship with creation - our environment.

You were created to love life. Even though you are unique - you are not an island. If we love life we will love relationship. To do relationship well you must be at peace with yourself. True internal peace
is only possible through relationship with our creator, the original and true Father.

Embracing New Opportunities and Challenges

Welcome to a brand new year!

A new year will bring new discoveries, new challenges, new relationships and new opportunities; it’s exciting just to imagine what lays ahead. There will be scientific and medical discoveries, your team could win the grand final, you may start a new job, attend a new school or college, or move to a new neighborhood. One thing for sure, the possibilities and opportunities for us are endless.

In the Bible, Jesus talked about new wine, new birth and new clothing, and He used the illustration of a new patch being sown onto an old piece of clothing. In those days, the fabric wasn’t pre-shrunk, and so to patch your favourite old pair of pants with a new piece of fabric would pull them out of shape as the patch shrunk at a faster rate than the original item.

The great news is, that as we embrace a new year with its challenges and opportunities we don’t have to be restricted by a past that may have shrunk in around us. Jesus encouraged us not to try and patch up old religious thinking and living, but to receive the freedom of a brand new life from the giver of life Himself.

We live in a great city which at this time of year is vibrant and alive with yacht races, festivals, sports events and family and friends; let’s enjoy this fantastic season as we welcome visitors and new residents to our city and church.

We are in for a fantastic year in 2009. Many great new things lie ahead for us as individuals, family and as a church, as together we bring the Kingdom to our city and beyond with the revolutionary and powerful life-changing message of Jesus. This message isn’t about patching a tired and broken system but providing a brand new one.

Look forward to embracing the challenges and opportunities we’re going to share together this year!

Connection

Our current theme at Energizer is CONNECTION. Our mission put very simply is ‘connecting people to God and each other’.

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” (John 13:34)

Jesus shared this new commandment with his eleven closest friends. Even within a well connected and familiar group like His disciples, Jesus knew that remaining connected wouldn’t happen without some encouragement.

There are people who are easy to love because they make us feel good, and others who are more of a challenge. God’s love doesn’t ask anything from humanity, He loves us because that is His very nature. He is complete and doesn’t require anything from us to make Him complete. His desire is that you are complete and secure.

Real connection with each other is possible through the security that comes from experiencing the unselfish love of God. Jesus’ message to His disciples and to us is that; His love stimulates within us the capacity to be able to love and therefore connect with those around us.

God loves you, and you have an exciting future! As we fire up the barbies and boats, lets keep in mind that connection or authentic relationship with each other will happen as a result of our connection with God.

Bless you heaps,
Pastor Dave.
